I can't believe I've never read this thread yet. Do I look like a Bree? Once I introduced myself to someone as Bree and they're like "Hmm... more like a sharp cheddar." I get sooooo sick of cheese jokes, but I would rather be cheesy than go by my full first name. |

Breanna-Lynn. It's very Irish. Also my mom didn't feel it was necessary to give me a middle name. I have no middle name because "two first names was enough." My dad wanted Bryanne, because it's a nice French name, but my mom thought it sounded too French (and, we ARE half French, only a quarter-Irish and a quarter-Ojibwa) so she said Breanna would do well. Then she tossed in the Lynn because right before I was born, my mom`s cousin Lynn died at seventeen of a very sudden and strange condition (her heart just STOPPED while she was in the car with her friends) so she decided to pay tribute to her. Likewise, my cousin/best friend is named Jordan-Lynn. She was also named for what would have been her aunt. The funny thing is my mom didn't give me a middle name because A) she said having two first-names was enough (and she mostly introduced me as "my daughter Breanna" as a child) and B) she didn't want to just pick an arbitrary middle name that meant nothing. The hilarious part is that my brother has two middle names (His name is Andrew Patrick Rody Mantha... he got my mom's maiden name as a second middle name but my sister and I didn't!) AND my sister has an arbitrary middle name that means nothing (it's Kathryn... there are NO Kathryns in our family, my mom has NEVER known a Kathryn). My brother was named after about ten people in my mom's family... 'cause she's Irish and every Irish man is named Patrick. Essentially, I got cheated out of a middle name. I prefer to be called Bree, and I've been consistently known as Bree since mid-high school. I've had some friends for a few years who recently looked at my drivers' license and were shocked to see that my name is not just Bree. I think I like being called Bree, and I like being called Breanna-Lynn, and I don't MIND being called just Breanna. But what I hate is when people leave the "A" off of Breanna. Breanne is NOT my name!! Breanne/Bryanne is a FRENCH name, Breanna is an IRISH name!! My grade eleven math teacher used to call me Breanne and say it was the "same thing." NO IT'S NOT! You call someone named Jennifer "Jenn" but not "Jennif." Ugh!! So I have to choose: shall I forever be known as Breanna-Banana, or Bree-cheese? --Last edited by Silent Bree on 2008-11-23 09:03:43 -- |

Hey, "Lucy," I very rarely get a chance to get that out. Especially about people leaving the "A" off my name. People don't realize how much it pisses me off! But it DOES!! And also, not having a middle name, for me, is the equivalent of not having a thumb. |

lol, it was pretty entertaining =) rant anytime |

I was not serious about the thumb remark though. I'm sure there are many people in the world who suffer the hardships of not having thumbs, which makes separating words when typing a lot more difficult. |

I'm typing without my thumbs right now. It's not that bad. lol. And my middle name is my mom's maiden name, which is sort of awkward, because it's the name of a certain type of car. |

Mercedes? That's my grandma's name... I figured I'd take a guess. |

I'd take a car name any day. At least none of you are named after an 80's action movie starring Arnold Swartzenegger . I heard "like the barbarian?" so many times I'm considering changing my name!

Nahhh, I always think "Like O'Brien?" At least it's not "Like the cheese?" Though I LIKE being called Bree, the cheese jokes just get so... cheesy. |

No, not Mercedes. It's a certain type of Porsche. ![]() Yup. My middle name is just that sexy. |

Cheesy cheese jokes lol I'm still upset my parents saw a movie and decided to name me after its lead character. They can't even remember what the movie was about these days.

Mine poor children will most likely be named after literary figures. I can't help it, i'm an English major. They better pray to God I don't feel like having a Fitzwilliam Darcy, Jr. |
